On 30th April, the seventh session of Third Pole Series was organized titled “Building Energy Efficiency: Key takeaways for the Nepalese private sector”. Mr. Suyesh Prajapti, Program Director at MinErgy was the resource person for this session. He presented the core principle of energy efficiency in buildings and stressed that the wellbeing of people using the building services is at the center of it. He shared examples of buildings in Nepal and highlighted the benefits of adopting energy efficiency in buildings. Mr. Raju Dali also shared his experience of constructing an energy efficient residential house. He shared the benefits of living in such a house, like reduced electricity bills and less dependency on electrical appliances like AC for thermal comfort. After the presentations, the participants engaged in an active discussion with Mr. Prajapati and Mr. Dali on matters like availability of resources, obstacles in applying energy efficient technologies and status on legal provisions for constructing energy efficient buildings.
