TPI will be a dynamic multi-stakeholder platform. This structure will be crucial for fostering synergies among different stakeholders working toward their individual and collective contributions to regional climate adaptation, as well as for furthering business-led climate action. To elevate the Himalayan Region’s climate agenda, this platform will leverage research, insights, and resources from organizations that operate throughout the region to implement proven adaptation solutions. The platform will be funded through contributions from both participating organizations and the private sector and include a Himalayan Climate Innovation Fund.

Multi Stakeholder Platform
Third Pole Summit
The Third Pole Initiative will be officially launched at the Third Pole Summit, taking place in Kathmandu, Nepal in October 2025. The Summit will bring together business leaders, government, regional and international organizations, and other relevant stakeholders. The summit seeks to achieve the following:
-
Establish the Third Pole Initiative, including its governance structure within a multi-stakeholder platform incorporating pillars of private sector action, public sector collaboration, and government policy support.
-
Launch of Himalayan Climate Innovation Fund.
-
Formalize the commitment of regional corporations to take climate action.
-
Provide a marketplace to showcase practical community-centric climate solutions that integrate indigenous knowledge, technologies and best practice.
-
Create opportunities for businesses and philanthropists to support and invest in community-based projects and climate adaptation.
Himalayan Climate Innovation Fund
The Himalayan Climate Innovation Fund will support innovative social enterprises and projects with a demonstrated positive climate impact. This fund will help both climate adaptation and mitigation actions in the Himalayan Region. The fund, launched within the TPI framework, will be managed by the Chaudhary Foundation and other governing partners of the TPI. We envision this fund to be $500,000 in its first year and will then grow based on the development of its portfolio investments. We are primarily seeking a fund design for enterprises that incorporates globally recognized, result-driven best practices to ensure climate action and impact. Our goal is to create a fund that not only meets the highest standards of performance and accountability but also attracts investment from a diverse group of like-minded partners and investors. These partners and investors should share our commitment to driving sustainable social and environmental impact while achieving a positive financial return. By combining innovative fund structures with strategic partnerships, we aim to build a robust, impactful fund that can effectively address the climate financing gap in the Himalayan Region.
